The Ubuntu software installer will recognize that you have already have installed google chrome on your PC, So it will update chrome to the latest version. Chrome is not an open-source browser, and it is not included in the standard Ubuntu repositories. Installing Chrome browser on Ubuntu is a pretty straightforward process. We'll download the installation file from the official website and install it from the command-line. Perform the following steps to install Chrome browser on your Ubuntu. In this post, we'll show you some easy steps to install Google Chrome Browser in Debian 10/9/8, Ubuntu 20.04-18.04, and Linux Mint 20-18. However, the same installation instructions also work on older versions of Debian, Ubuntu, and Mint distributions. Sudo apt-get upgrade google-chrome-stable upgrades all the packages installed in the system including Chrome. If you only want to upgrade your Chrome version to the latest stable, you should run the following command: sudo apt-get install google-chrome-stable This will install the latest stable version of Chrome if you do not have it installed.

You will be able to install No-IP.com's DUC on Ubuntu in just a few minutes with Terminal.

Once you have opened your Terminal window, log in as the 'root' user. You can become the root user from the command line by entering 'sudo -s' followed by the root password on your machine.

  1. cd /usr/local/src/
  2. wget http://www.noip.com/client/linux/noip-duc-linux.tar.gz
  3. tar xf noip-duc-linux.tar.gz
  4. cd noip-2.1.9-1/
  5. make install

You will then be prompted to log in with your No-IP account username and password.

Linux

If you get 'make not found' or 'missing gcc' then you do not have the gcc compiler tools on your machine. You will need to install these in order to proceed.

To Configure the Client

As root again (or with sudo) issue the below command:

  • /usr/local/bin/noip2 -C (dash capital C, this will create the default config file)

You will then be prompted for your No-IP username and password, as well as the hostnames you wish to update. Be careful, one of the questions is 'Do you wish to update ALL hosts.' If answered incorrectly, this could effect hostnames in your account that are pointing at other locations.

Now that the client is installed and configured, you just need to launch it. Simply issue this final command to launch the client in the background:

  • /usr/local/bin/noip2

Read the README file in the no-ip-2.1.9 folder for instructions on how to make the client run at startup. This varies depending on what Linux distribution you are running. Typically, to run the client at startup you will use: Adobe reader offline installer windows 7 64 bit.

$ systemctl enable noip2.service (start on boot)

The other common commands used for Ubuntu are:

$ systemctl start noip2.service (start immediately)

$ systemctl status noip2.service (for status)
